Frequently Asked Questions
- Camping is festival style in a pine forest; there are no hookups available.
- Camping on-site is for ground tent camping, vehicle camping, pop-up and roof top tents, smaller overland vehicles and motorcycles only (NO RVs, NO travel trailers, NO Class A or Class B style motorhomes allowed), see vehicle restrictions.
- The Fort Tuthill County Campgrounds is reserved for the Overland Expo Premium Weekend Pass With Camping attendees only during the event weekend (closed to the public).
- General admission Weekend Pass with Camping will have access to basic on-site camping (no hook-ups) in the main camping areas of the event. The general campgrounds is a nice walk through the forest to the main event entrance. If in need of ADA accommodations, please make sure to choose this option upon registering for your passes.
- Day Pass attendees (those visiting for only one day) ARE NOT eligible for camping. If you are interested in upgrading your day / weekend pass to a camping package, then CONTACT US.
- Organized group camping is not available. Campsites are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’d like to camp with your group, we recommend you all arrive together to be placed together. You must purchase the same camping ticket in order to camp within the same area.
Rustic camping is located north of the exhibitors. Access is open to ground tent camping, vehicle camping, pop-up and roof top tents, smaller overland vehicles, and motorcycles only (NO RVs, NO travel trailers, NO Class A or Class C style motorhomes allowed); see vehicle restrictions. There will be porta-john and cabana-style showers within the campground; there are potable water spigots for filling up.
Camping is festival-style. On-site camping is in demand. In order to accommodate as many on-site campers as possible, campers will be near fellow campers.
This new campground area allows for the Weekend Pass with Camping package but for those attendees that need an additional space. The Weekend Pass with Large Campsite package will allow for a guaranteed 20X20 campsite. Spaces are limited for this pass type, so book early.
Premium camping is an upgraded camping packages that allows for a more exclusive camping experience. The premium camping location lies closest to the event & exhibitor areas. Spacing is limited to vehicles and trailers under 13 feet. Premium camping sells out quickly, as campsites are limited.
Camping is still festival-style in premium camping. In order to accommodate as many on-site campers as possible, campers will be near fellow campers.
RULES FOR CAMPING:
- Pets are welcome, but please have them leashed at all times and clean up after them; make sure to read the Pet Rules.
- There will be roaming 24-hour security.
- NO open (wood or charcoal) fires allowed in the dispersed camping areas. Propane cookstoves and gas-powered campfire units with an on and off switch only are acceptable.
- There is NO electricity. Please turn off your generators when quiet hours begin at 10:00 pm as to not disturb your neighbors.
- Camping check-in will open at 8 am on Thursday morning. You may stay through Sunday night, if you desire.
- All campers must be off the venue grounds by 11am Monday morning.
- Friends Who Want To Camp Together, Must Arrive Together: There will be no reserving space for friends within the campgrounds. If you plan to camp with your friend, please plan to meet up prior to your arrival at the event grounds. All passholders within the group MUST carry the same ticket type. No day / weekend pass attendees may stay overnight in the campgrounds.
- If in need of adding on a passenger or upgrading your ticket to a different camping package, please reach out for assistance.
FACILITIES & AMENITIES:
- There are no hookups for electricity or water in the camping areas.
- We provide porta-toilets throughout the venue.
- We recommend you prepare as you would for an overland-style camping experience, bringing your own portable shower system or wet-wipe style cloths for the two to three nights you will be camping. You are also welcome to bring your own shower / water heating system.
- There are NO water spigots in the camp areas for filling up trailer water tanks. Bring your own filled water containers / food / cooking gear, etc. Treat this like a true overlanding trip: be self-sufficient or plan to travel to Flagstaff (minutes away) for food, water, etc.
TREES: There are pine trees in the camping areas (yes, bring a hammock), but no wood cutting.
FIRES: No campfires (wood or charcoal) in the dispersed camp areas due to fire danger. Propane is allowed, including portable campfire appliances – MUST have an on and off switch. NOTE: All and any fires, including propane, could be banned in the event of extreme fire danger.
GENERATORS: Quiet generators are allowed but must be turned off by 10 pm. Please be considerate of your neighbors.

For all Premium Weekend Pass with Camping registrants:
Arrive during staffed hours of operations and allow extra time for parking and/or camp set-up. Please check in prior to arrival at the event grounds at the KC HiLITES Headquarters in Flagstaff (1751 S Thompson St, Flagstaff, AZ. 86001) during the below check-in hours. Once you have your credentials, you can head to the event grounds to set up camp.

- Fri: 8am – 6pm
- Sat: 8am – 5pm
General Admission Weekend Pass with Camping ticket holders:
Arrive during staffed hours of operations and allow extra time for parking and/or camp set-up. Park in a campsite first, then come to the grandstands to get your credentials
- Thurs: 8am – 6pm
- Fri: 8am – 6pm
- Sat: 8am – 5pm
Once check-in closes for the day, we will stage late arrival campers in lanes outside of the venue to be ready for check-in the following day at 8am. Late arrival campers will not be allowed to camp in the event campgrounds until they have checked-in the following morning.
For the best experience, we highly recommend arriving within the available check-in hours so that we can better accommodate you.
