If you’re at all into the world of rooftop tents and camper shells, you’re probably aware of GoFast Campers. GFC hit the scene in 2017 and since then, its ultra lightweight and capable campers have impressed overlanders across the country. The brand says it makes the lightest, strongest and most affordable campers on the market — and they’ve just received an upgrade.
Recently, GFC unveiled the second generation of its campers, and in doing so, fixed a lot of the troublesome hot spots the first generation models fell prey to. 8,000 campers later, it seems the brand has hit the sweet spot when it comes to production and quality.
If you’ve been GFC-curious for a while and are considering investing in 2024 GFC V2 Pro, here’s everything you need to know about the updated ultralight camper shell and tent combo.

The brand-new 2024 GFC V2 Pro is built on customer feedback — and features a ton of notable upgrades. The new camper shell system features better ventilation via top vents in the tent to let out all the condensation that builds up in the night. Now, you can zip the rear door down from the top, and the bottom, and all three windows can be propped open for even better breezes. Each front window now features a side pocket to stow our phone and a headlamp.

Condensation build-up in the sleeping area was long a problem for the original GFC V1 and V2, but the new V2 Pro combats this via the addition of marine-grade fabric added to the interior tent ceiling to help absorb moisture and spread it out for easy evaporation. The marine-grade fabric panel also helps keep the inside of the tent darker, which was always a pain point on the older model: when the sun was up, so were you. Not anymore.
The brand spent two years developing a new mattress foam and fabric, and added loops and latch point all around the interior of the tent, so you can hang keys, lights, water bottles and any other items you might wish to hang.

One of the most useful upgrades in my opinion, after camping in our own generation one GFC camper for the last four years, is the bedding catch the brand added to the bottom of the sleeping panels. We installed an after-market catch in our own GFC, but having it be part of the package is a major upgrade.
The old latches on both models of the GFC camper shell doors weren’t the best — we’ve had to replace all of ours over the years. The new latches on the V2 Pro are stronger, have bi-directional keys and have integrated covers included from the factory.

There are more updates beyond what I’ve laid out here, but I think I’ve made it pretty clear: the new 2024 GFC V2 Pro updates and improves essentially all parts of the camper shell and tent, and if you’re looking for a lightweight, strong and capable camper, I can personally attest to GFC’s quality. And, if like me and my family, you already own a first generation GFC camper and would like the benefit of some of the upgrades the brand has built into its newest model, GFC is selling an upgrade kit on its website now.
