With Overland Expo SoCal’s massive turnout, both from exhibitors and attendees alike, our editors spent a good deal of time and consideration picking what we’ve deemed the best rigs of Overland Expo SoCal 2025. With over 19,000 attendees, hundreds of exhibitors, and dozens of classes, demonstrations, and all the best and brightest overlanding gear available, making the call was tough — but we did it.
Our staff perused the Orange County Fairgrounds looking for the standout trucks, vans, and rigs of the show. From the classics to the outlandish and everything in-between, here are the rigs we wish we were taking into the backcountry today.
OK4WD/Alucab Grenadier w/ Silenius Roof Conversion
It was hard to ignore the Ineos Grenadier with Silenius Roof Conversion at the OK4WD/Alu-Cab booth — no one else is doing a roof conversion like this specifically for the Grenadier… yet. (It’s pretty bold to cut the roof off an $80,000+ vehicle, but someone has to do it!) The Silenius Roof Conversion features a pop-top tent that can sleep two, with enough vertical space that you can stand up inside when the bed is stowed.
Black Rhino Wheels Ram 2500 Super Duty with Bowen Customs Flatbed
Over at the Black Rhino Wheels booth, we couldn’t get enough of this beast: the Ram 2500 Super Duty platform plays host to a Bowen Customs Camper Bed, Four Wheel Campers Project M topper and of course, Rhino Wheels. The Camper Bed is designed specifically for slide-in campers, and retains the factory bed height while adding in tons of storage. The Project M topper is ultralight, rugged enough for any terrain, and features a large cabover bed (with mattress available as an add-on). Rugged, no-nonsense and prioritizing storage and utility, this is a build every overlander would be stoked to get on the (unpaved) road.
Krug Expedition X Arctic Trucks Bedrock XT2
This six-wheeled F550 expedition vehicle, a collaboration between Krug Expedition and Arctic Trucks, is proof that sometimes bigger really is better. Fixed on a Ford F550 chassis and six massive wheels, the Bedrock XT2 is KRUG’s first U.S. market offering, and is 22 feet long, 96 inches across, and 90 inches (7.5 feet) tall. Isuzu NPR Build
Over in the Content Creator space, our eye was caught by this novel Isuzu NPR, brought to the show by @where’s_the_delica. The 2005 Isuzu Landscaping truck, converted to 4×4 camper, initially started out as a two-wheel-drive work truck (with 200,000+ miles!), but over the years the owner Jim transformed it into the capable rig you see here. 50 Mundos Rig
Another content creator’s rig that caught our eye (how it could it not, being this big?) was the 50 Mundos Overlander. 50 Mundos translates to “50 worlds”, and it’s not hard to imagine seeing that many places in this over-the-top rig.
Dissent Off-Road Land Cruiser
Featured in both Overland Expo’s 5 Rad Rigs at SoCal video and this reel from IVD Suspension at SoCal that’s garnered over 2.5 million views on Instagram, it was no surprise this Dissent Off-Road Land Cruiser was going to end up in our round-up. This impressive build pulls out all the stops for serious overlanding with upgrades front to back: winch, suspension, wheels, sleep setup, internal lighting, Pelican cases, and so much more, all within such a compact vehicle.
Supertramp Campers Megatron
The Supertramp Campers Megatron is built on an Elevation Off Grid black edition F550 truck. With standing height to accommodate even the tallest overlanders (or extra large hats), the Megatron blends the brand’s panoramic aesthetic with the durability and protection that make hard-shelled campers so desirable, all on a beefy and extremely capable F550.
Dillon’s 2015 Porsche Cayenne
Also featured in our 5 Rad Rigs at SoCal video, Dillon‘s 2015 Porsche Cayenne is quite a unique build. Featuring solar panels up top, a steel bumper, and steel work all the way around the rig, all from Euro Wise. This capable Porsche also sports a 10,000-pound Warn winch, a Factor55 hook at the front, and Toyo AT3 33.5-inch tires. Intrigued? You can check out every detail here.
